broken oil pressure sending unit
so as i took out the engine i find this

would this render my block useless?

very fixable-keeping repair debris out of the oil passage will be the hardest part.Could grind the upper part of the oil hole to a slightly larger diameter them tap some new threads further down to accept a longer pipe for the sender.To reduce chance of debris dropping in,could do the repair with engine upside down or possibly take a galley plug out under that passage and use a small magnet to attract away iron particles-don't have a spare block handy to examine right now to see if that would work well...
