Help, Stranded, Need Advice.

Me and a friend are stranded on the side of the interstate, im using my cell phone to type this, but my heater core went out.
I know this because steam is coming out of my air vents(whichever i have turned on) Its cold outside, and my car is overhearing, i used a case of water i had in the back(luckily) and filled the radiator and resivoir.

I need to know, is there a way i can drive it home and keep the heat down???
I live 6 miles away.

Re: Help, Stranded, Need Advice.

if possible, try to bypass your heater core by connecting the feed hose with either the return hose, or connecting it where the return hose goes.

You do it from under the hood. You know you will have no heat if you bypass the heater core though.

Re: Help, Stranded, Need Advice.

just fix the core dude, a lot of people gripe about it, but it isn't that bad. All you have to do is pinch the coolant hoses running to the firewall on the passenger side, pull them off of the tubes that they slip onto at the firewall, then pull your dash cover off, and take the heater unit cover off from under the dash. Once the covers are off it should be pretty self explanatory what you have to do to pull the heater core out. It shouldn't take you more then 2 hours to swap out, and its not very expensive to do so. PLEASE don't leave your car without a working heater, enough of these cars are hacked up as it is.
