Question about a vacuum line.

Last night I had unplugged my a/c compressor as it has a low charge and was squalling on and off, and don't want to hear it until I have time to fix my leaky system. Unplugged it, and noticed there was what looked like a vacuum line behind it, rotted off (of course most of my vacuum lines are in bad shape, I'm replacing them as I find them) and it looked like it ran to the carb. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Also, what vacuum lines go to the reserve canister (if that's what it is)? I am referring to the plastic can under(ish) the windshield wiper fluid tank.

Re: Question about a vacuum line.

The line behind the compressor might be the one that goes to the coolant cutoff valve. It's in the heater hoses and stops coolant from going to the heater core when the A/C is on. If I remember right, the reserve "ball" supplies vacuum to the heater controls inside the car. One line probably goes on the carb or that little vacuum tree on the intake manifold that's behind the carb and in front of the distributor, and the other line usually has a tee and hooks to the line that comes out of the firewall from inside the car. If you have any kind of repair manual that has vacuum diagrams, that'd probably be the best way to figure everything out.
