Converter flash RPM
Converter flash RPM
Hi Guys, I'm wondering if there is some rule of thumb for working out (roughly) how much higher a converter will flash with more torque. I'm replacing a 305 with roughly 250HP with a 400 Dart SHP and AFR 195 heads. The converter I have flashes to about 2400 with the 305.

You need to know the stall torque ratio of the converter.

Re: Converter flash RPM
Right; not really any "rule of thumb" for that. Especially not since, the flash RPM isn't determined by "peak" torque, it's determined by the torque at the RPM where it flashes. It would be VERY easy to build a motor that had MUCH "more" torque, but flashed at a lower RPM, because its higher torque didn't "come on" until well above the range of "flash".
