why do some engined like nitrous so much more then others
I am trying to decide if my engine will benefit from say a hundred shot of nitrous? The engine is a 350 bored 60 over with flat top pistons it iron heads with a 64 cc chamber and 2.02 intake valves which should make about 10 to 1 compression the cam is like 480 lift and don't remember the duration carb is holly 650 double pumper. So what do you guys think nitrous or no nitrous? By the way it is not a forged rotating assembly. Thanks for any input you might have.

Is it a forged piston? what are your ring gaps?

Almost ANY small block will benefit from a 100 shot!
Forged vs cast rotating assembly, including pistons, should not be a consideration for running just a 100 shot. IF you run decent fuel, have adequate fuel supply, run one range colder on plugs, get the mixture right, get the timing right, all will be fine. However, IF you don't get ALL of those right, then forged parts, pistons in particular, may buy you time, but they won't save you.
I wouldn't be concerned with the top ring gap on a factory build, but TTOP raises a good point since yours sounds to be a rebuild. What is your top ring gap? Hopefully you recorded that.
The fact that you've asked this question tells me the first thing you should do is pause for a few months and read up on running nitrous. When you truly understand how it works, all of the above becomes common sense. You'll find out there are multiple safegaurds available; it all depends on how complicated you want to get and how much your motor is worth.
If you respect the boundaries and understand how easy it is to step over those boundaries, I still maintain nitrous is the safest method available to add significant power to a motor.
I did my homework before I ever touched the stuff, have been running it since 2002, never had a failure with it, currently running a 100 shot on a heads/cam stock bottom LT1, putting 527 hp to the tires.

Actually lmao i have seen some guys run it and not seen much gain maybe because it was timing was not just right or a fuel issue i am not sure and nobody else was positive either. That is why i asked that's what these boards are for right. Maybe someone had experienced problems and had success overcoming these hurdles. I knew my engine could hold fine to a small shot. Thanks for the input. Lets keep the input to positive

If somebody doesn't see much gain on a motor like yours with a 100 shot, then they're doing something very wrong that is not only hampering performance but likely causing damage. If they gave up, you don't want advice from those people
If they stuck with it and figured out what they were doing wrong, whether or not they broke stuff along the way, then they may have something to contribute.
