I want to get a stroker kit for a 350 build im doing now, anyone know where to get a good stroked cam?

Well i was reading up on it, i want a stroker cam for a 350.

 

A "stroker" uses the same cams as a "non-stroker".

Stroke refers to crankshaft swing length aka stroke. 350 crank moves piston 3.48". Stroker would just be a crank with longer length swing. Common is 3.75" which makes a 383 cubic inch motor.

Stroker cam doesnt really exist but maybe you heard about long stroker cranks needing special small base circle cams to clear the rod ends? In that case any cam company can make a cam on small base circle for clearance. However alot of rods these days are designed for longer strokes so may not need to worry about rod end to cam clearances.

 

There's this awesome thing called Google. It lets you look things up and learn. making a stroker motor is basically changing the stroke of the crankshaft. take a 350 with 3.48" stroke and swap out the crank with one that has a longer stroke such as a 400 with a 3.75" stroke gives you an extra 33 cubes. many other things to consider such as rod length, piston compression height, etc. And some strokers use a small base circle cam to help clear the rod bolts or use a rod that has profiled rod bolt heads since the extra stroke will have clearance issues with the block.

You shouldn't be buying anything until you have a good understanding of how things work. Either that, or have someone who's more aquainted do things for you.

 

Actually, unless you're talking about chevy's in particular, strokers have a stroke length that longer than their bore diameter

To the OP, find a reputable engine builder, tell them what your plan on doing with the car, and let them build you an engine. Or face one hell of a learning curve.

I do know what im doing, Just some things im confused about. Thanks for the info, ive tried google just its easier to get better straightforward answers on here (since my car is a third gen of course). And delta i did plan on having a good proformance shop do the work, as for the motor itself, i can build that myself.

Hmmm....there are specific cams for stroker cranks and aftermarket rods in which you use a cam cut on a smaller base circle...no such thing as a "stroker cam" per se. No 3/4 race cams either...lol

Lots of stroker kits out there to convert your 350 into a 383 however!

Oh...and the crankshaft you posted will work great...on a 400 block.

Has eagle gotten better with their quality control? I would consider getting a kit from them if it weren't for every machine shop around me saying nasty things about their stuff when it comes to balancing issues. They all recommend Scat, but I'm always open for improvements.

I run a Scat forged crank and Eagle sir rods. Never heard of Eagle QC issues from the machine shop I used to balance the assembly. I've seen people break most anything and any brand over the years...

And yes, it's a stroker kit for a sbc 350...

 

Go to jegs .com and just buy a stroker engine. You can buy a 383-396cu stroker engines complete short blocks from $3100-$3800.

I was thinking getting it bored .030 or .040 over and putting a 3.75" stroke cam. Would this be reasonably fast? And thanks for all the help getting this explained for me, it means a lot.

 

It's not the cam that makes it a stroker.... The cam does nothing to change this like we've already discussed. And no, that engine is a giant turd. I'd take a junkyard motor over one of those any day.
