R&R a distributor/top dead center

So I have a 1991 RS with the 305. I brought it to the shop and they moved my distributor around and moved my s.p. wires to the wrong spots. I believe I know how to put it back but just want some feedback before trying it.(feel free to correct me) First to find Top dead center you remove cylinder ones spark plug. second crank the engine until you get big push of air out of the cylinder one s.p. hole, then move the crank it over to* 0 degrees. third put the distributor back in (lined up where the dist. rotor is pointing at the #1 spot on the dist. cap) then put everything back together. * shouldnt it line up at 12 degrees? 0 sounds like it would be too retarded in timing. any links or other threads talking about this would help to, thank you in advance!

When the engine is at about 12* the rotor will line up with the #1 terminal on the cap. At 0 the rotor will be nearly straight ahead.

If you've been watching videos on youtube you likely watched my video. I said 0 in my video because it's easier.
