1985 Z28 305 auto fuel issues............again

The poor beast has me at wits end. A simple question. I replaced fuel pump and still get no pressure at fuel rail. The filter is relatively new. The fitting at fuel rail looks like an air fitting. Can I use it to blow out fuel system? I was thinking to remove connectors at fuel pump and attache an air compressor to flush fuel system. Is this a good idea? OR AM i GOING TO DESTROY MORE OF MY POOR INOPERABLE ENGINE?

was the filter put in backwards? If its in the right way, you can check segments of your fuel lines for clogs. You can undo the line that feeds the fuel rail. Fittings should be right next to the alternator. If you cant get any fuel to come out there, disconnect the filter and see if comes out from the tank fuel line. If its not coming out there, youve got some kind of crimped fuel line, or an improperly installed fuel pump.

Is the pump running?
You say still ;
Did you have a fuel pressure problem before replacing the pump?
What tests did you do to determine the pump was the problem ?
( there are other possibilities for no fuel pressure )

I've had a few fuel pressure issues. I replaced the original fuel pump with an Airtex. failed in a few weeks. I returned it and bought a Bosch unit. Ran well for a while, but the car begane failing. I checked pressure at rail and it was around 40. I assumed an electrical problem and proceeded to spend way too much to replace everything electrical. After latest job replacing the distributor an all related parts, I just pushed the test valve and no fuel came out. In my usual dumb troubleshooting manner I replaced fuel pump again. To no avail. So I'm going to rent a fuel pressure guage at Autosone and check again. The Filter is a newer Fram. I want to know if I can blow out the fuel lines. The car is over 25 years old and who knows what could be gumming up the works.

I do not know whats causing your problem but if you want to clean out your fuel lines get some E85 fuel and a vacuum pump and clean them out that way, you would be amazed at how dirty your fuel lines are,
