So i recently did a dist cap rotor spark wire and plug replacement and coil *inside distributor not sure what it is sadly.. :/* and the car started fine before this..(1986 iroc-z27 camaro 305 4bbl carb)

Things i did not do that i should have...

Mark rotor position..
Replace wires 1 by 1...
Didnt check for TDC *have no clue how really.. to find #1.. just put it 2 away from the b+ terminal on the distributor.. and wired the rest clockwise as follows 18436572.

it will crank and make a pop/fart noise for a sec then keep on cranking.. battery is long dead by now u.u.. been fighting with this for a couple of days can anyone help me? >.<

Re: new cap rotor ect.. no start?..

your wires are not where they should be on the distributor. first off you want to be at TDC 1 compression stroke. so to do this your going to remove your #1 sparkplug then put in a paper towel inplace of the plug and crank your engine...slowly..once you hear air blowing out of the cylinder and the towel being thrown out..then go check if your timing tab and your harmonic balancer are lined up at the 0* mark..if its not then just rotate your engine with a 5/8ths deep socket until they do line up...now go check your rotor on your distributor thats where your #1 should be located on your cap...then just follow the rest of the firing order going clockwise...18436572
