First pop start
Hello everyone!
I just recently came across an 89 Camaro RS that was owned by my brother before he wrecked it, sold it to a friend who later fixed it, and now 8 years later, is mine. This has the LB8 engine and is my first standard transmission car ever (still learning haha). Currently it has a plethora of small issues that need attended to and I am not mechanically inclined whatsoever (family computer technician here :P). My brother and dad are both excellent mechanics but never taught me anything. So I'm going to figure it out with the help of this forum hopefully. Currently the things I've mentally noted are the door pins need replaced, rear main seal needs replaced (small oil leak), needs a new clutch, hood needs adjusted or something (difficult to open, gets stuck sometimes), needs a new headliner, needs aligned, steering wheel needs adjusted (quarter tuned when the wheels are straight, needs tachometer fixed, inner fender well needs fixed (plastic which has been bolted on is rubbing against the wheel), need a new shift **** which I somehow broke today, and the number one issue I'll go into more detail in a second. I hope I can tackle some of these things one at a time over the course of the summer. It's a great car that even though it was wrecked by my turd older brother, is awesome and in better condition than when he first had it (jokes on him hahah).
End introduction.

Anyway! The big problem which I ran into today involved turning the key with nothing happening. The gauges all moved when I turned the key, but there was no clicking or turning or anything, although the electronics all came on, so I'm not so sure. Luckily I was at my dad's shop who shown me how to pop start it and gave the the good advice "You better not stall it on the way home". I ended up stalling it while attempting a burnout not far from my house (good thing I was on a slope, nailed my first pop start). Again If anyone has any idea what this could be, I'd love to hear it.
Thanks in advance!

Re: First pop start
OH! I just realized, when I turn the key to try and start it, the temp gauge shoots all the way up and stays up until I stop trying to turn it over and let go. I'm not sure if this helps, but it's all I got at the moment.
Thanks again!
Oh and don't worry, the Camaro was only in the snow a few days :P
