The one near the CCP canister. Has three fittings, two of which are Y'd together and to go the canister. The other fitting goes to the line that goes to the fuel tank.
Should take a little under 1 psi to crack open the valve to allow fumes into the canister.

Ok , and yes , the valve you mention seems to be defective in that it takes no effort at all to blow through , it's as if it's open all the time . I'll hit the local pick n pull and see what I can come up with . Thank You for your help

Re: Gas cap / filler neck question
Hey dudes, i took the filler neck cowl piece off to have a look and i wasnt sure if it was leaking or not, but its dark around the left side where the solder ends :/ im sort of thinking it is leaking with that discoloration ?

Re: Gas cap / filler neck question
That's exactly what mine looked like and it was leaking badly.. Take it down and fill it up and you will probably see it get wet... Make sure you don't run over the top of the filler neck as that can run down there and create a stain also... Filling it is the best proof.. Trouble is if you change the tank you have to drive it a while to get it dry...
By the way, my new tank is the Spectra Premiuim. Nice looking tank, went in with good fit, but.......it is a real b**** to fill.. I have to go super slow and it is real easy to over fill it... There must be something really different about the filler neck compared to OEM.... I haven't called them about it yet to see what they say... But, at this point I can't recommend that tank until I find out why it does that.. It could be something else other than the tank I guess (including one of the vent valves).. Maybe my tank vent valve that I cleaned to get operating isn't opening easily enough...

Lots of posts on the "Spectre" gas tank. From what I have found, I'm afraid to buy one.
Going to look at repairing the OE tank. Do a search on gas tanks.

Re: Gas cap / filler neck question
Just went through the strong gas odor when getting out of the car after a long drive on a hot day. It turned out to be a faulty pressure valve on the gas tank sending unit, changed the sending unit, problem solved.

Crap, so thats another job for me to do. Im not even gonna bother looking for a new tank, shipping one to the UK will be stupidly expensive no doubt.
How hard is it to remove the tank once the exhaust is out of the way ?

Re: Gas cap / filler neck question
It`s in the tank. You have to drop the tank to remove it. The other symptoms I had was when removing the gas cap I could hear alot of pressure being released and when I pushed in on the restrictor plate gas sprayed out of the filler tube and the gas was extremely hot, almost to the boiling point. You may want to check out everything else other members advised before dropping the tank, it`s possible the pressure valve in the tank is not your problem. Make sure that the filler tube attachment point at the tank is not the problem, there was a recall on some that cracked.

If the tank is leaking where the filler neck attaches to the tank, you can repair that yourself.

Re: Gas cap / filler neck question
Thanks for the info, well going off the pics i have posted i would say it looks like mine is certainly leaking.
I get no pressure / hiss when removing the gas cap, but i used too.
Ive been under the car with it running and theres a hissing sound which is hard to pinpoint bit i think thats always been there, just the noise of the car and the fuel pump but it sounds like its coming from near where the white valve is by the drivers side rear wheel

Re: Gas cap / filler neck question
I also can move the filler neck around a little, but still can hear the hiss sound when opening the cap.
Does this mean the tank barely holds the pressure?
There is no gas smell.

Re: Gas cap / filler neck question
Well guys, i think i have sorted mine for now. I took the back wheel off and removed the access panel and there was just enough room to get my arm in there to clean it all up with degreaser.
Once dried and wiped down again i applied some 2 part fuel tank repair compound all around the join, making sure i got it right over the solder, then i let it set over night.
So tonight i started the car with it still on the stands and the wheel off so i could have a good sniff and nothing ! just a slight smell which will have been coming from the exhaust but nothing like the eye watering smell i was getting previous to applying the repair compound.
I think when i get round to fitting a new fuel pump i will drop the tank properly and repair the neck properly but lets see how long this holds up

Re: Gas cap / filler neck question
Me again guys, i had to use the car today for quite a long journey, so obviously had to go put quite a bit of petrol in, so i nearly crapped myself when i got to the petrol station, undone the cap and WHOOOSSHH, a noise i havnt heard from a long time !
So it seems the tank wasnt holding pressure with the leak, now that ive fixed the leak its returned to the way it was and lets off a nice whoosh / hiss when undoing the cap.

If your worried about the charcoal canister, you could replace it with the following: https://www.classicperformancerestor...-vapor-trapper
Works well, I recommend
