305 tpi no fire
Howdy, I posted in the tpi forum but no response.
I picked up an 86 t/a with a 305 tpi. originally, she would fire briefly and die, but would run on a stream of starter fluid.
Replaced the fuel pump, filter, blew out and replaced the lines, new fuel pressure reg., cleaned out the rails and injectors.
43 lbs preasure at the rail, checked each injectors for resistance, all drawing around 16.
Replaced pickup coil, ignition mod., wires, and plugs.
Now suddenly she's backfiring out of the intake and exhaust simultaneously and won't fire off starter fluid, sounds like she's firing at random times. There's no pattern to when.
Originally I thought a faulty ecm, just by process of elimination, but this is my first gm vehicle and want a second opinion. All fuses are good, seems like the timing changed overnight, yet I didn't change it. It doesn't sound like a mechanical timing issue to me, though I could be wrong.
So, is there any way to test the ecm? The check engine light is on, but I don't have a scanner.

Did you take out the distributor to do some of these replacements?
