Hi. I have an 86 z28 305 with a 6 SPD. This morning when I got on it it made like a loud hissing noise smoke poured out of the exhaust and the car seemed to slip and lose power sort of like if I had pressed the clutch in. I trued it in 1st 2nd and 3rd and it did it in all gears. Does anyone know what it might be. Thanks

 

just a guess, but when you are standing still and press the guess does it rev, or seem to loose power there as well? If that is the case, I believe it is your fuel pump. It fell like it is running out of gas when it is dying on you.

 

oH crap, I missed the smoke pouring out of the exhaust. That could be a head or intake gasket.

 

Hi. If it was a head or intake gasket wouldn't it smoke all the time? It only makes the noise and smokes at like 4k rpm. It sounds like something rattling under the hood with like a swoosh of air and momentary loss of power and like its slipping out of gear but its not.
