I recently put a new used 305 tpi motor in my sons Trans Am. everything seems pretty good the only trouble I have is that the car it has difficulty starting at times. Sometimes (usually cold) itbwkll start instantly but other times (especially when jts hot it will have to Crank 3 4 even 5 times before it starts whi h is usually a blubbering stumbling start. Whennit does start it smells like gasoline has flooded the motor. I installed a new distributor, wires and plugs. No change. I checked the fuel pressure and fuel pressure is right. any thoughts?
Oh yeah. The car runs fine once it starts

 

Cold start injector. Or any other injectors could be leaking. Also the temp sensor could signal the ECM to give it more fuel than needed because of an incorrect reading. Check that. First I'd say

 

Wanted to say thank you to servoman. I changed out the injectors with a bosch remanufactured set I bought on ebay $120. Car STARTS GREAT!!!!
I wasnt aware injectors could leak like that. Thanks for the "schooling".
