AC compressor stabilizer bar stud
I'm looking for the double ended stud that replaces one of the water pump bolts where the A/C compressor bracket stabilizer bar attaches to for a driver side mounted compressor.
I thought I would try running without it at first but my compressor brackets are able to flex slightly and with my solid motor mounts at idle the entire car vibrates pretty harsh like a motorcycle when the compressor is running.
Does anyone know where I can get this part?

Re: AC compressor stabilizer bar stud
Don't know of any such thing...
The only bar I know of, goes from the bracket at the back of the compressor, to the intake manifold.
You're right though, without it, the whole thing is just floppy loose. Nowhere near enough stiffness in certain directions.

Re: AC compressor stabilizer bar stud
I'm not sure if I see it on there or not. I see the support bars but I know there was a longer one that went from the top of the A/C bracket back down to the exhaust manifold. I didn't take that one because I have headers.
Here are some pictures of the piece I am talking about and also a pic of me holding it exactly the way it was mounted. IIRC, it was attached to the engine via the top driver side water pump to block bolt. The way I am holding it in the photo, it is of the perfect length and shape to attach in this manner.
It is roughly 7" long.

Re: AC compressor stabilizer bar stud
Also another question. I see in that diagram on #9 where it appears a bolt goes through the hole in the two rear brackets into the compressor. Is that how it should be because it sure looks possible when I look at mine and there is an extra bolt from the donor car setup I can't remember the location to.

Re: AC compressor stabilizer bar stud
The stud for the brace goes to the upper water pump mounting hole and should have thread sealer on the block side.

Re: AC compressor stabilizer bar stud
To answer your question it does look like there are 2 bolts holding the bracket to the compressor. the last time I removed the ac brackets was in 04 so I really don't recall.

Re: AC compressor stabilizer bar stud
Looks like all I have left is the ps and alt upper bracket and some of the bolts. I'm sure it would be a common stud on a small block or 3.4L you could find at the bone yard.

Does anyone have the exhaust mounted stabilizer bar?
