New Battery Question
New Battery Question
Hey,
I've got a 1991 Pontiac Firebird 3.1 V6 and need to buy a new battery(long story).
I have two problems:
1) I'm in the UK, this seems to make it virtually impossible to buy a side terminal battery that fits (240mm in length when all the batteries are 260mm).
2) I do not know the 'cold cranking' etc amps that is the minimum required for the car.
Please can someone point me where to get a battery in the UK?
Or let me know the minimum cold cranking amps etc required in a battery for the Pontiac Firebird.
I've found a side terminal battery that i can get in the UK with 550 Cranking AMPS, but have zero idea if this is any good.
Cheers,
Mike

Re: New Battery Question
Should be plenty for your application. Switching to top posts is also an option as there is enough room.

Re: New Battery Question
They also have top post to side post adapters available at most parts stores. Even Wal-Mart has them

Re: New Battery Question
As a general rule, CCA should be double the cubic inches of the engine for stock gasoline powered vehicles. More CCA is never a bad thing. This would put you in good shape at 550CCA.

2. Robin Grey at Auto Pontiac in London. Dude fixed my car right up when I had issues and he's got a ton of knowledge and is more than willint to just chat on the phone to give advise.

Also....www.Rockauto.com does ship to UK addresses but not sure about batteries.
Hope this helps!
