Engine 'zzting' and dying
Engine 'zzting' and dying
Hey,
I have a 1991 Pontiac Firebird 3.1 V6.
When the car warms up and idles the engine makes a 'zzzt' noise and the rpm's stuggle and eventually the car stalls.
This problem can be averted by increasing the revs of the car with the gas pedal, however when the car idles again it once again starts 'zzting'. The noise is coming (looking at the engine) from the left of the main engine block.
I've already tried alot of WD40 in case there's a short but its not helped.
I'm going to send the car in for a full service/MOT soon and get it made 'mint' for the British 'summer', and was wondering if anyone had any ideas that I can fire back to my mechanic to make his life easier or that I can check myself?
Cheers,
Mike

Re: Engine 'zzting' and dying
Could you post a vid? That would make it a bit easier if we could see/hear the problem.
