91 firebird trouble starting
91 firebird trouble starting
Just got a 91 v6 auto firebird and everything was fine when I got it and then the next day the starter went out so i replaced it, however after replacing it my motor failed to fire, I proceeded to place starting fluid in the throttle body and try again, nothing. I checked my spark plugs and they all seemed fine and dandy, fuel pump seems to not be working, checked the fuse and relay both seem fine from what I can tell, and I am currently stuck. I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that three things could have gone wrong within one day owning a car that worked fine for the previous owner. Any suggestions on where to go from here? and please keep in mind my funds are very limited. Thanks.
Re: 91 firebird trouble starting
Normally, you would test for fuel pressure, injector operation, and ignition. However, since you attempted to start using starting fluid, it's more likely to be a lack of ignition. Test for spark at the plugs. If there is solid spark at all plugs, check timing.
Re: 91 firebird trouble starting
Just tested the spark and found 5 of 6 spark plugs were bad, the chances of me checking the only good one, anyhow I figured it wasnt only spark but my fuel pump is bad after testing the fuel pressure, question when dropping the tank, do I need to syphon the gas outa the tank before dropping it or can I do it with hlaf a tank left in there?
