Airbag dead?

So I get in my Camaro today after not driving it for 2-3 weeks and I notice the "infl rest" light on my dash. This light normally blinks upon start up but this time the light stayed on. So I look at my steering wheel to find a soft spot right in the middle on the steering wheel, where normally this would be stiff, like the rest of the wheel.

I'm assuming there was a slow leak or something. I've had this car for 2 years and know for sure there was never a large soft spot like that in the middle of my steering wheel.

So my question is, what do I do? Surely it won't pass inspection with that light on. Can I just change my steering wheel to one without an airbag? or will this not be inspection-legal?

Re: Airbag dead?

The airbag is inflated by a blank cartridge usually no idea how you would get a soft spot there....

Punch the soft spot as hard as you can.
