worked 993 heads vs vortecs?
hows it goin fellas, I got a couple questions.. 1- I was wondering what kind of numbers you guys think ill be putting down on the dyno next week, motors a 355 , flat top pistons , comp xe274 cam , mexico 993 heads 2.02/1.6 valves with 76cc chambers , .015 thick head gaskets and a tpi set up on top with 40lb injectors. and 2 - I was thinking about edventually sending my 993s out to be built, would I be better of starting with a set of vortecs or just build the 993s? thanks, justin

993 is trash. There aren't a whole lot that are any worse.
How is this even a question?
Only issue would be, if your car is TPI, the intake won't bolt to Vortec heads.

If you want similar performance to Vortec heads, but still want to be able to use your TPI, look into the Dart Iron Eagle SS 165cc heads.

CHP magazine did a test of those heads against a few others.
They claim to be 165cc intake runners, but measured out to 178cc.
They didn't flow as well as Vortecs, but in real world numbers, they did pretty well against the Vortec heads. By the time all of the extras are added into the cost, Vortec heads aren't cheap anymore.
