Hi, I'm new to posting on Thirdgen.org, but I have been lurking for a while. I'm finally getting ready to start upgrading my 1988 Firebird Formula and I have a question (the first of many I'm sure). Apologies if this has been covered before.

I found this attached pic elsewhere on the site and I thought it would be good to illustrate what I'm talking about. Again, apologies to the original owner of the photo, but I couldn't find any other good pics. Anyway, my question is: what is that black box on the passenger side of the vehicle that I have circled in red on the photo? Why is it in the way of everything that I would like to do to the car? And finally, how do I get rid of it?

Also do a search on "A.I.R. pump delete".

 

As long as you don't have emission inspections that include a visual inspection for all the necessary emissions related equipment, you can remove it and the A.I.R. pump and related plumbing.
