Cam question comp cam xfi on 383 stroker
What do you guys think of this combo. It was a custom grind for carburated
My engine builder put in an *hydraulic roller*cam XFI 280 cam with spec of 230/236 Duration @ .050" and lift of
.570/.570 and a 113 LSA
It went in my 383 stroker with canfield Alluminum heads, 1.5 roller rockers, Edelbrock performer rpm intake, 670 street avenger carb, 10-1 comp, Probuilt automatics 700r4 trans, Dougs long tube headers, Borla exhaust

That cam looks exactly how it comes from comp? How is it custom grind? I believe it should be .576 on intake lift with 1.6 rocker.
For a carb car i would have put it on a 108-109 lsa. It will run ok as is and will be stout with great driveability but tighter lsa would have been abit better suited for a carb imo

I am glad to hear. I was getting nervous. I was picking out my stall converter and the guy was saying it wont run right and has never herd of that combo. I told the builder I wanted a 450hp with a stought cam. Will be starting in the neXt week. Heads are canfield I might upgrade to AFR next year.

The rockers are 1.5 not 1.6. They came with the canfield heads and thats what i had to work with. Took us a bit to pick out the correct camshaft out of the book.

Canfields are good heads. You will make 450-475 hp fairly easily. It will run fine, and for street strip build i would go 3600 stall. More street, 3000-3200
Torque peak will be closer to 4000 and remain flat to 4500

That sounds good. I bought a vigilanty 3200 stall. Thing cost 900$ im hoping it works good. All I heard were good things from them. Its mostly a street car. Mostly a poop your pants sunday car.
Re: Cam question comp cam xfi on 383 stroker
It took me alot of emails to my builder to find those canfield heads. He said buy them up asap so i did. 900$ with new 1.5 roller rockers. Im from mass and I bought them from florida. It was a good gamble. Pressure tested perfect and it was the first time being machined.

They arent bad heads. Your motor will run good once tuned. I probably would have ran a 750 cfm carb but yours should still do good
