I am chasing a rumble/pop in the exhaust on decel, would either advanced or retarded timing on decel cause this cond? the only thing that seems to stop it was with the old computer controlled q jet and hei was when I unplug the 4 pin connector that you unplugged to adjust timing, if i left it un hooked it would not pop but also didn't run right power wise.
I now have a holley 650 dp and MSD Dist, it still does it but not as loud.

Leaks in the exhaust system tend to be the biggest problem. On decel it allows fresh air to enter and cause the rich mixture to explode.

Exhaust is sealed tight, I used a Smoke machine to check this.
