wrapping cold air intake?
i have a custom cold air intake, the egr stuff has been removed so the tubing and cone run to the drivers side. the cone sits where the egr canister, etc. was, the metal ducting sits on the top radiator hose. do you guys think there would be any benefit to wrapping the ducting with turbo wrap to keep the air and the tube nice and cool? thanks !

Re: wrapping cold air intake?
The EGR is a little valve that sits on top of the intake; looks kinda like a little UFO.
Not a good place AT ALL for anything to do with the air duct tube. Wrapped or no.
Doesn't sound like you're headed in the right direction.

Re: wrapping cold air intake?
woops....not the egr but all the smog stuff has been removed and i believe there was some sort of canister located next to the radiator on the driver side. sorry about that but anyway where that canister was, is where my k&n cone filter sits and the tubing is on the upper radiator hose. i thought maybe keeping that tubing as cool as possible (with all the under hood radiant heat) would keep the air going in the throttle body cool = better.....sorry again for the misunderstanding.....maybe ill snap a pic

Re: wrapping cold air intake?
I made the mistake of gutting my air box long ago and have the air filter sitting next to the canister. My only saving grace was to route a hose on the top of the filter to an area in the fender for cooler air. If you can't go back to the stock air box, try looking for a heat shield for the air filter. I know that Spectre has one for their filters and is around $30 bucks. It covers one half of the filter (best to put on the top of the filter when the filter is lying on it's side).

thanks man, i have been wondering if i could just get a shield like alot of the newer cars have for their cold air kits but could not find one. yeah my canister is gone so the rubber end of the cone touches the empty tray over there....thanks again ill have to look up that shield!
