Oil Cooler
I go out in the garage to get ready to goto work, and notice the car has puked anti freeze all over the garage floor (wife not happy). It appears to have come from the oil cooler. (Took the opportunity of a half filled radiator and installed a 180 Tstat.) Here is the weird part, I fill the system to get an idea of exactly where the leak is (with pans, pots, etc. to catch anything), and it runs fine. Not a drop. warmed it up and held it at 2500 RPMs, nothing. Odd. Have yet to drive it as of this writing (I scared
)
Anyways, the proximity of the original puddle tells me that the factory oil cooler (or line) is what puked. I want to remove it since it is not needed, and very difficult to find a replacement. I know how to bypass the coolant lines, but everything I have searched does not say what is underneath (or on top of) the cooler -oil filter adapter. Do I need to buy a standard adapter? Or is there something already there for the filter? What will happen if I just unscrew the filter without draining the oil out?

Re: Oil Cooler
Adapter probably doesnt have anything under it. I havent checked mine but my aftermarket one for sbc that never had a factory cooler bolts to block after you take out the factory filter adapter. So you would just need to remove the oil cooler adapter and replace with a regular sbc filter adapter
