Starting problems!
Hi. I have a 1991 Pontiac firebird formula, just started having starting problems sometimes when I go to start it, it'll click click click like it has a bad starter so I replaced the starter hoping that would fix it, it didn't so I replaced all the wiring to The starter and went through and tightened all the grounds and it still does it. Anybody have any ideas? It doesn't do it all the time and sometimes it starts right up other times it'll take 2 or 3 tries then other times it takes 20 tries.

Re: Starting problems!
You have a dead battery or a bad connection. Essentially what is happening is you turn the key to start, the starter begins to engage, the load of the starter is so great (relative to what your battery/connections can provide)that it loads down your battery voltage to maybe 6v or so. (This is sort of like in a house if your running heavy equipment like an air compressor the lights will dim but much more sever). When that happens the starter solenoid disengages as there isn't enough power to run it anymore. When that happens though the load is removed and the battery voltage returns to normal so it will try to start again. The cycle will repeat over and over. That is the rapid clicking sound you are hearing.
You've replaced the starter more or less eliminating the possibility of bad starter creating an excessive load.
You have replaced the power wire running from the battery to the starter?
What you have not said is if you replaced the heavy gauge ground going from the battery to the block that would be my next step. Make sure you sand all connections clean.
Next have your battery tested and replace as needed

Re: Starting problems!
Battery is brand new, checked the ground wire it's good and tight, had everything tested by a garage the report came back saying everything was in good. Still does it, I'm gonna try buying another starter.
