Has anybody used these heads studs???
Hey guys, I'm in the market for a set of head studs for my LT383. I've checked out the ARP head studs and 180 bucks right now is a bit steep for me at this moment. I've done a little research on this from procomp and I haven't found anything negative on them thus far. Here's the studs in question...

Has anyone here had any real experience with these? I know I'll hear "procomp sucks!!" but I've used some of their stuff in the past i.e. intake manifolds, water pumps.. and I haven't had any issue. If I can save a buck or two that would be great. any feedback would awesome.

Pro Comp = Hecho en China
take that for what it's worth.
No sense to spend hard earned money on the entire engine and suffer a failure due to cheap fasteners.
that is what you call "stepping over dollars to save dimes"

Re: Has anybody used these heads studs???
If these are of low quality AND you had a problem with them you may never know until it's too late. Being in the rocker valley area you will never see them unless the valve cover is off. So because of that I would passing on them depends on your habits. If you are willing to periodically recheck the torque then go for it, if not then pass. I also have had parts by them that were of fine quality but I could see them and easily replace them. Is there a reason that you can't use ARP bolts?

GM doesn't use ARP fasteners and I would presume that GM got there fasteners from outside the United States.

Re: Has anybody used these heads studs???
Perhaps but I guarantee they were made to GM specifications and tested per GM QC standards.
I am pretty sure GM just did not walk into a Home Depot in Mexico to get bolts for the LS engine in the "hardware aisle" The same goes for any other Car manufacturer, they are not using Ebay hardware.
The average consumer does not know about yield stresses, metallurgy, thread rolling, etc.. they just want "cheap stuff". Cheap does not equate to quality or the correct part for the intended application, which is why whatever product a car maker uses are made to their standards.
You cant compare Pro Junk or All crap to ARP or even GMs fasteners.. because there is no comparison.
