speedo help plz

well I have a 92 Camaro, so that's electric, and I swapped a mechanical t-5 in. I order this part http://tpiparts.net/inc/sdetail/7587 and hooked everything up, but the speedo still reads ~32mph (while car is not moving)and when moving (~30mph+) will jump to 60mph and kinda just dance between 30-60mph.

any ideas on why its doing this?

Re: speedo help plz

What do you have on the other end of that retrofit VSS? You don't have a mechanical speedometer cable to screw in there, obviously. Is there a "plug" they give you with it in case you don't need to drive a mechanical cable out the far side?

Cool looking part. Didn't know they existed. Just sucks it's not working for you. Scratching my head trying to figure out why it's not. Unless it's just bad outta the box.

Re: speedo help plz

its got both actually. it screws onto the mechanical speedo and has a plug that plugs intot he exsisting plug, but can also run a mechanical cable at the same time. im ofc using the exsisting plug.

im thinking it might not be the part bc b4 I put it on the speedo was reading 30 all the time, instead of zero like it use to when I first swapped the trans. when the vss wasn't hooked up ofc it had the check engine light, but now its off.

Re: speedo help plz

The VSS should be sending the same signal to the computer and the speedo, if your not getting a fault code from the ecm then there is a good chance the VSS is fine but the speedo is probably bad.

Re: speedo help plz

You should be able to get the buffer off eBay pretty cheap, I keep an extra one around just for diagnostics.
