heavy blue smoke when first starting.

Hi,

Went out to start my 89 camaro carbed 350 for the first start in about 3 days and I noticed heavy blue smoke comig out untill I shut it off and than went and started ir again and there was no blue smoke?also when I first starter it up and shut it off and checked the oil dipstick there was one spot of froth on the stick and the 2nd time I went to start it and. Shut it off and checked the dip stick there was no froth?

Also put a clear cup ubder exhaust and smelt the fluid in the cup and it was water, not coolant which is a good thing right?means engine is strong and healthy?

Please help..thanks guys.

So the froth is normal?bubbling on the dipstick when I first checked it?

Re: heavy blue smoke when first starting.

In my experience frothing is from over filling oil, be mindful of this because it is better to be a quart under than half a quart over. When oil froths it isn't able to pass through the oil galleys as well thus starving parts of the engine for oil
