Car not starting regularly, stalling shortly after start.
Car not starting regularly, stalling shortly after start.
Long story short, a few years back my uncle and I painted my 90 3.1 RS. During the process the car sat for a while, when I finally got it back, I took it out to get the emissions test done, the car ran great and passed the test. On my way home I made a stop, came back out started the car and it stalled on my way home. I had to trailer it back to my house and from that point forward, it would not start. We went through the car, replaces the ignition, bypassed the VATs, replaced the relay to the fuel pump. Nothing. The car would not start. We were able to get the car started with either ether or a gasoline soaked rag, but as soon as that was used up it would choke out. After doing a lot of reading through these boards, I replaced the distributor. The car would then start, but only run for a few minutes before stalling out again. We decided to try the fuel pump, but for several reason I had to put it off for most of the last year. We finally got around to replacing it again, but we are right back to it not starting unless we use gas soaked rag. Any suggestions or where to look next?

did ya check the fuel filter? fuel injectors? plugs? wires? cap and rotor? it sounds like something is up with not enough fuel getting into the system.. people on here should be able to help.. stop throwing money at it until you have the proper diagnosis..
