"Strange" rod bolts?
Now, I'm no rod bolt expert, but I'm curious as to what kind of rod bolt this is. I've never seen one like this; it's in a 283 I'm tearing down. I tore it down to the short block to discover that, well, it's in really good shape. Thirty over pistons, clean (Aside from sitting through some weather) bores, almost no ridge in the top, all the main bearings are below 3 thousandths of slop, so I'm wondering just what these rod bolts are. Searching through pictures, I can't find any like them.

Right on.
Guess I didn't know 'cause I've never payed much attention to the rod bolt.

Yup; looks like most every other 283 rod bolt I used to run across back before I got tired of getting beat all the time and quit building em.
