surging from bad gas?

I have read a ton of posts about camaros that have sat for a few years then started right up but after a few miles they got the "surging" mine is one of them. It seems that there is no one answer of how to fix the problem. Some change the map, ega, tbi or fuel pump. If the car ran fine before sitting why would it not after. It got me thinking is it the old gas? You mix 5gal of old gas with 10gal of new would it surge until all the old gas is gone? replacing the fuel pump would empty the old gas or running the car trying new parts like maps or o2 run the old gas out. Then the car works fine and you say it must have been the last thing that was changed. Is it that simple?

Re: surging from bad gas?

Fresh gas should do it,I would do that 1st,then if the problem persist,it could be something else.

Re: surging from bad gas?

If the problem persist it's probably the idle air control sensor.

Re: surging from bad gas?

can't a dirty or clogged fuel filter also cause these symptoms?

Yes it could, but it was a rhetorical question.
