About two weeks ago my car started running very unusually. It wasnt putting the power to the wheels at all when i would shift into gear, then when i tried to drive it back home it would run the tachometer as high as i would let the throttle take it but the car wasnt going anywhere. So i parked it, now when i start it up she will purr but then the tachometer starts bouncing around and the engine will idle rough. Any help or suggestions? I have no idea what this could be and the shop i took it to failed to warn me of this obvious problem so i no longer trust their service. Any help is appreciated thanks

 

did you try and pull any error codes? that's always the FIRST suggestion on this board.. there is some fuel injector test that can be done that could be causing this issue.. do a search on it.. need a Digital Multi Meter for this and need to check each injector.. again, I don't know the process but when I read it, sounded pretty simple. also post your car/specs and or update your profile so people can try and help you troubleshoot.. not enough info!

 

The motor is a 305 TBI L03. Pretty sure its got the 700r4 trans but not 100 percent. And yes the error code thing was obvious to me as the check engine light is on. But none of the autozones/autoparts stores around my area have a multimeter capable of reading cars before 1995. Unfortunately im SOL on the whole getting a free reading as im too afraid to try and drive my car anywhere at the moment. But i will read up on the fuel injector test. Thanks for the reply
