87 iroc no spark
So 87 350 TPI.
Yesterday replaced the ICM because code 36. My code 36 is has historically been set by my ICM, why I dunno. My burn off circuit works done very thorough testing on it. Anyway.
Replaced the ICM and Rotor. Unplugged the computer to clear the codes. She fired right up. Let her idle a bit as whenever I reset my computer she misfires like a beast for a while. No idea why on she does though.
Get in to give her a test drive, get about 1000 feet from the house and she dies.
Now no spark. Plenty of fuel and air. Get out distributor cap is loose, bolt holes got stripped.
Get the cap bolted firmly today and still no spark.
The other thing that lead me to replace the module is when I put her in reverse she would surge and in general the exhaust tone did not sound right. I think that though is the IAC valve, it is making unusual noises, have a new one atm to install. Have a penny cracking open the throttle in the meantime.
My coil is new, replaced it with an MSD because it was 20 less the a BWD part.
The only thing I can figure is the new module burned out. Not sure why or how.
Gonna swap it out again tomorrow.
Any ideas in the mean time, I am afraid to play with the cap more than I have to. ICM and coil wires are intact and tight. Timing wire is tight as well.
EDIT:
Just went to play with it a bit. If I pull up on the rotor button and set it back down(like picking up a pen and and dropping it) the fuel pump primes again. Every time I do this results in a new prime cycle. Why is this? Is the pickup coil shorted?

Re: 87 iroc no spark
The ICM was dead dead. Found my old one and it fired right up, old one is going out but worked enough for the test.
