motor mounts
motor mounts
Hi all back again got good if on the TPI stuff from you all for sons car thanks. Now he has had the car back in for trans shop twice as it was leaking and few internals had be worked on. While at trans shop they were saying driver side of motor is higher than right side which is possible cause of trans leaking and such. Question is were good place to get the poly motor mounts I looked at local parts store all them have is the rubber ones. We may work on it next weekend as my step nephews has a garage where they keep their drag cars and work on them and they have it all there lifts and such
. Also does motor need to be taken out of car to replace them?
Winter coming fast here and did tell son time to but car away soon

Summit, Jegs have the poly inserts.
Yes, you have to remove the mounts to replace the inserts.

Re: motor mounts
If your engine is not the factory installed engine,..... be sure that your blocks' "clam-shells" are properly mounted.

POLY engine mount inserts are VERY firm and sit a lot higher than stock parts. If you install them, be ready to really "feel" your drive-train !

Re: motor mounts
I went with the Energy Suspension Motor mounts and noticed a nice v-8 feel to the car. Not a buzzing but a steady mild thump of the engine that I really like. My car has a street / strip look to it so I don't mind it feeling like one. I still will continue to use a rubber trans. mount though.
What kind of height rise are we talking about? 1/2 in ?

When I switched from factory rubber to poly, my Hooker 2055HKR Y-pipe now hit the front of my Spohn subframe connector. I had to cut and box the connector to clear the exhaust. Same headers, no problem with the factory rubber inserts.

Re: motor mounts
I can't recall exaclty how much higher they sit - but they are higher then stock & that CAN lead to issues - as clearly described by five7kid ! I can remember being worried that I would somehow install the inserts wrong so I took a few pics to be sure that I got it right - the first time !

Hope that helps !
