Having some problems
Having some problems
I have a 86 Iroc with a 5.0 tpi engine. My problem is (now that I finally have fuel coming to the rail) that the car will start run for a sec the die back out. I have to replace my starter cause it caught fire this morning while trying to get it to fire back up so that on my list too. So I'm just needing ideas for what my next action might be relating to the actual getting the Iroc to stay running. Thanks to everyone on here

Re: Having some problems
Put a voltmeter on the coolant temperature sensor and see what it's reading/sending. There are two, one for the gauge, and one for the ECM. I would also pull a spark plug and check spark during this period where it rns and then doesn't. You may have spark for a second and then no spark. But fueling is a concern also. If the CTS is unplugged, broken, or telling the ECM it's -200F then the computer is going to FLOOD the car with fuel and it will be very reluctant to actually run, despite coughing and other theatrics.
I would also double and triple check the firing order.
