ok so in the passed iv tried a few different brands when assembling an engine, this time i was woundering if you guys knew of one thats either braided like the lokar one, or one made to fit around headers that decent quality? not lookin for tin crap like spectra, also need a trans dipstick to chrome is never a bad thing.

howd you like how it went into the block? iv always had trouble with the chrome plated ones, very tight fitting in the block have to fight to install em if you dont grind the chrome off.

the lokar i was looking at has 2 rubber O rings on it, slide it easier and doesnt leak? good deal for the $68 they wanted? seemed kinda much to me

Besides Lokar, stick with the OEM if you can get it to work.

All the other aftermarket dipsticks are cheap junk.

I have a CFR engine dipstick as pictured, bolts right to a header bolt, perfect clearance and no leaks.

I also just installed the CFR firewall mount dipstick for my TH400, no problems there either.

About $40 and $30 each.

Re: who makes a good dipstick/tube besides Lokar?

I have no idea where I would run a dipstick on that setup..
Is there room between the #1 and #3 header tubes toward the back?

And yes I know edelbrock headers are junk, but anything was better then manifolds for this budget build, I'm going to get a nice set of ceramic headers towards the end of summer after I get my enjoyment I so desperately need from the car, havnt drivin it in 3 years so budget budget on Alota stuff besides the motor itself i just wana drive it and have a little fun again

Re: who makes a good dipstick/tube besides Lokar?

When I had those edelbrock headers I used the stock dipstick. I think a metal tube stick is your best bet as it can rest damn near the tube without damage.

Looks the same as the lokar ones. Only problem is when the headers are hot you easily burn your hand

FWIW most racers simply omit an engine oil dipstick.
