better of these 3 sbc cyl heads ?

ok so i pulled the heads off my original engine i had in the camaro , which were pretty nicely ported 882's i went to clean them up and install my new retianers springs and locks for the new cam

low and behold somone had previously installed bronze valve guides well i pop of the first springs and pull an intake valve the the valve is moving all over the place the guides have way way way to much clearance( think of trying to get a .22 bullet down a 30 cal barell ) , same story on every valve on both heads , the only reason it didnt blow blue smoke was because of the umbrella seals im sure

while they made great power witht he turbos i know they aint work having the guides replaced

i have a selection of heads i can use inplace of them that are in good enough shape i can swap the springs retianers and valves and use long as they have enough retianer to guide clearance

what i have is a set of

376450 heads
376450 262/305 75-76 1.72/1.50

a set of
462624 heads
462624 350 76-87 1.94/1.50 2.02/1.60

theese apear to have the 1.94/1.50 valves

i also have a set of stock 882's off a 400sbc

if i want to use any of theese which would be the best out of the bunch, i dont mind porting any of them but if i have to spend money on them to use them that arent worth it really

my other choices are
for 400 bucks

or for 160-170$'s each take my chances with a set of theese as hell they have to be atleast better then a set of stockers

iron version 161$'s each

aluminum version 166$'s each

Ebayheads dont know I wont go near them dont mean to be negative-

624 worst head ever
882 runner up
If they arent cracked they will.
Never heard of the 450?
(882>624)
If it were me (yeah easy to say right) get what you can for all save a little more and pick up a set of Jegs, Dart something known to be of good quality

You know what everyones gonna say.

Spend good money on good heads or else.

I would not bother with any of the factory castings you have, and can not comment on the china heads listed.

How much money can you really afford to spend on the heads? Even though some of the 'experts' will say thats no way to decide, it is your money, and if you are like me, you have a limited amount to spend.

Decide what you can spend, and then try and find the best choice in that range. Don't forget the used selection. You can find some great deals out there.

While I'm not a import pusher, and there are much better heads, the KMJ comes from the same importer as my core I use for my budget CNC offering. I have been through 3 pallets from 530-660hp with no reported issues.

Re: better of these 3 sbc cyl heads ?

i bit the bullet , ordered up a set of heads 200cc 64cc chambers , +.100 2.02 and + .100 1.6 ex valves, set of screw in studs , and guide plates , ill have to wait on push rods till i put the heads on the engine to check pr lenght ( sure glad i Didnt go with my original piston choice of flat top 2 vr pistons )

i already have a + .050 retainer and lock set along with .600 lift springs

to match the heads i bought an hsr intake + fuel rails and regulator

overall the intake swap alone would have given me 50 hp on the engine n/a and when boosted that gain could be as much as 75-100+ hp gain

not to sure what to expect gain wise from the heads but 20-40 hp n/a and 75hp boosted should be a nice conservative guess

i expect as a whole ill see somewere around a 200 hp gain compared to the same engine with the 882's and tpi intake, should be able to remove the nitrous setup and still be able to run well into the 9's
