Pitting around water jackets...
Pitting around water jackets...
Re-posting from a different area.. (Thought this would be a better fit).
Local machine shop is selling this block... Looking at the photos, it looks as if the area around the water jackets are pitted. Am I being to skeptical?

looks like there is a little pitting, but nothing abnormal-looks typical of an older block.Looks like it is a "207"block:80-85 era.

That is exactly what it is! Is that block any good? Is $850 a decent price? Bored .40 over, new scat crank, and KB 11:1 pistons (doesn't say with what cc...)
Moreover, being it is pre-85 would parts from a, say 70s 350 block work?

Re: Pitting around water jackets...
207 block is basicly same as '70s era "010" except for the dipstick location-crank and other parts are the same, pan is different.i have had good luck with my 207 blocks, but as usuall these are subject to the usuall GM quality variations of the day.Don't know if the price is good or not,but I don't care for Scat or other chicom raw forging cranks myself(forged in china-machined in US)
