350 tpi rebuild

Im getting the motor torn down again to replace the piston rings, wondering if anyone has suggestions to give some power while its tore down. T
Its got a .030 bore already. Im thinking about putting a bigger cam in it but having problems picking one... i want a mild/bigger cam that gives the old "rumble" sound n will give me some mnice power down the strip. Its going to be my summer driver aswell as fun goin down the drag strip... motor is pretty well stock plannin on sticking with the tpi setup aswell.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

A cam is the right place to look. Getting the "old rumble" using a cam while maintaining TPI is not a good idea. That "rumble" comes from overlap, and overlap and EFI don't play all that well together.

Unless you're willing to do some computer tuning, you need to keep the cam fairly mild. But, there are several aftermarket choices that will give you a nice boost over the stock cam. Look for "computer compatible" when selecting the cam.

Plan on upgrading the valve springs while you're at it.
