Fuel pump help.
Alright, this is my first time posting here. I purchased this 87 GTA and the TPI was absolutely screwed so I switched it over to a carb(don't hate, it was really necessary because the tpi was missing a buttload of parts). Carb switch went just fine and two days after driving it, my fuel pump decides to crap out on me. I used an afpr and fuel gauge and it was fine, then one day it just decides not to get pressure anymore. Is there anyways I can make sure it's the fuel pump before I spend the time dropping the tank. I was having problems with the oil pressure sensor which was making it not start. Someone with more knowledge please help.

Re: Fuel pump help.
Replaced fuel filter last week, tried cranking it without the filter attached to make sure that it's not clogged lines. The fuel pump is DEFINITELY not kicking on, it used to be a loud one. Car sat for 8 years also.

Re: Fuel pump help.
Change the relay first, as it's cheaper and probably needs to be done anyway if it was sitting that long.
Re: Fuel pump help.
If it was acting up then maybe it could be the Fuel Sending Unit that was bad on mine and it was only sitting for a year now think about 8 years. Whenever you drop the tank test that everything is getting power with a circuit tester i ended up having to drop the tank 3 times lol. test the circuits and the pump with a 20V fuse bypass if u need a pic of how they look like just ask

Re: Fuel pump help.
I'm going to change the relay today and see what happens(it was dirty as hell), I need to pick up a cheap circuit tester too. It seems like I should just drop the tank and just see if the pump is bad at this point. A fuel sending unit just tells the gas gauge where to go, I don't think it'd cause the pump to **** itself, and my sending unit is fine(1/4 tank). Yeah I wouldn't know how to test the old pump. All I could figure is just to ground it and have a 12v power source going to it if I'm not mistaken. If you wanna show a pic, that'd help. I need to understand this better.
Re: Fuel pump help.
Well the sending unit could still be bad just check everything with the circut tester and make sure the pump works before you go buy a new one. A good power source to use is the battery but with the bypass i was talking about you can put a fuse in it but i used a 20V cuz i didnt have any 15V cuz i dont believe there are any 12V ones just go to the auto parts store and buy one i will get a pic of one later cuz its in my toolbox at home. But a 20V wont blow it thats what i used and i still works fine.

Fuel pump, alas, was fine. I hotwired it with an in line fuse and switch for it to work. Now I'm not getting a spark...the guy who had the car before me really botched up the wiring :/

Re: Fuel pump help.
Where's my ignition module at? By the distributor I assume? What fuses should I be looking for? Every other wire under the dash is snipped, I've been trying to work it out. My tach gauge fuse blows everytime I plug it in too. *frustration*

My tach blew completely lol, your icm will be the little black thing with 2 plug ins on each side and it's inside the distributor cap. Take it to ur local parts store and have them test it

It's a brand new distributor so I don't think that'd be it. I have new plug wires, new plugs. I'm running out of ideas.

Re: Fuel pump help.
my 5cent is find the test wire for the pump and run a hot wire to it to check for it kicking on this way it will be on until you remove the wire
