hello got a 91 rs 305 tbi auto that i just got, and sometimes it stalls when at a red light or pulling in to park and then check engine light comes on. the last owner removed some of the AIR components and egr valve. but the smog pump is on there still. there is no blocking plates on anything. it runs fine and idles fine. has brand new fuel pump and distributor. the check engine light will come on sometimes after driving for awhile but if its not idling it wont die. any thoughts?

 

Get the code for the SES light and see what it tells you. That's the best place to start.

 

will i be able to retrieve the code without the light on, cause it never stays on

 

The SES light doesn't stay on when checking codes, it flashes almost like morse code. Go here and it will tell you how to do what Ransford is talking about:

Check the vacuum lines to map sensor, that was my problem

 

the code it gave me was 32 egr system failure. checked the map sensor and where it connects to the throttle body wasn't fully on there but sorta was so maybe that will fix my situation thanks!

 

turns out had a weak cell in my battery. wait nevermind just happened to me today. right when i pulled in my driveway and before i put in park it just dies with no warning. any thoughts?
