Re: 327 sbc help

The date stamp indicates Oct/1962 which means it's a small journal 327.You will need to use the older SBC starter'or'change flywheels to the newer 168 tooth. It prolly has a short style water pump.Your accessory drive will dictate which style pump you need to use.The 62 heads won't have accessory bolt holes in head. What are the head casting #'s.

Re: 327 sbc help

What type of pistons are installed, dish, flat top? 416's on a 327 will raise your SCR up pretty high, especially if the pistons are flat top.If you are using later model brtackeys, pulleys, you will need the long w/p.

Those are flat tops.On a stock 4" bore,you'll be hittin 9.9:1.If it's been bored,you'll be over 10:1.

Re: 327 sbc help

416es put you at about 9.9:1 with a .025 in the hole slug and a .027hg assuming the eyebrows are around 6cc. I would plan on a cam with overlap to help keep that in check. Stocker 416es or ported? Will run darn well if ported but not bad stock. Do springs at least.
