Positive Surefire reman engine stories

Looking for people who have bought an Autozone Surefire reman engine in last few years and it worked out. I've seen all the horror stories, know about getting it rebuilt locally, myself yadda yadda. I've rebuilt my share of motors. Just don't have the time or money to throw at it. Want in and out for under 1500 and I can do it with one of these. Just looking for first hand experiences with these motors in last 2- 3 years.

Re: Positive Surefire reman engine stories

I went ahead and ordered an Autozone Surefire motor. Had a 150.00 coupon, so about 1250 before tax and core. It was delivered to my door. Got a HO roller cam 305. Received it last week, It looks good, came with a spec sheet showing oil pressure and compression on test run. It will be a few days before its in the car and ready to fire, I will post updates. Looks like good bang for the buck, we shall see

Been in the car a year now, maybe 7k miles. Towed my 1500 lb Dunebuggy 1200 miles last summer. Really happy with it, good compression, Oil pressure and no leaks

Well I'm sorry to see no one replied to your thread , and I will say I'm happy to hear of your success . About 20 years ago a friend was working for AZ and I got the employee discount on an engine I wasn't going to have the time to get into , and the results were favorable for me as well .

Now we see if it'll last 200K or so miles , like mine did ...

Been running this engine for 8 years. Still great compression and oil pressure. Not sure how many miles are on it. I did tow a 900 lb trailer 2000 miles a few years ago. Also towed my 1500 lb dune buggy and 500 lbs of gear 1000 miles once. Very happy with that purchase
