Prefered mini starter?
Going to get a mini starter ordered for my car since I am doing hooker 2210's. Is there a prefered mini starter for our cars. It is going to be a daily driver so dependability is important. Kinda wish gm had a replacement starter that was as small as a mini and would work. Car is stock for now.

Pricey new but Ebay has them used and rebuild parts are cheap.

Re: Prefered mini starter?
Same here !
But I am going to replace it after 14 years because it just does not have enough torque to turn the 13:1 engine easily.
If you have higher than stock SCR you will need/want a starter with more torque.
check out this application chart: http://www.powermastermotorsports.com/StarterApp.pdf
# 9004 is a mini-starter but with more umpfff than stock and is universal Chevy fit (153 * 168 tooth flywheels)
same with #9400 but with ALOT more umpfff! which is what I am leaning towards..

Google or E-bay 96 corvette starter. You may have to move the batt cables for a little extra length.
I think it was used from 90-96??

Re: Prefered mini starter?
Looking at starters online it appears the vette is smaller. Would I need different length bolts for the vette or lt1 f body starter? Leaning towards the vette starter.

Re: Prefered mini starter?
The vette starter is much much smaller. That's why I use those. They are very reliable also, unlike some of the aftermarket stuff (especially the china junk with plastic planetaries)

Yes:
it's not an original lt1 starter but it's mostly the same:

Re: Prefered mini starter?
Wow. Lt1 fbody is like half the size of L98 factory one, then that vette one would clear up even more room.
I got a summit mini starter on my 2 pc rear main block. Nice starter as well

Re: Prefered mini starter?
I have an old Powermaster starter which doesn't look anything like they have advertised in Summit now. It had good torque but it got stuck on and it burnt up the motor windings before I could disconnect the battery. I had it rebuilt but haven't installed it since then.
It looks a lot like this one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/su...make/chevrolet
I can't remember if this is the Denso or Nippon style motor.

Re: Prefered mini starter?
Anyone know if the LT1 starters are transmission specific, like the third gen, or does it fit both manual and auto trans?. I accidentally bought an auto starter for my T-5, and there was no way it was fitting.
