What is my car worth??

It's a 1982. It has been gutted. Only has dash and one racing seat. 406, powerglide w/ brake, 5000 stall. Stock rear with 4.11. Car has title. Runs 10.9s on pump gas leaving on transbrake. Gm block bored .30 over. Stock bottom end, flat top pistons and iron camel hump heads. Flat tappet cam. Motor has new rings, bearings, and hv oil pump. Tranny has fresh rebuild. No passes since re-ring and new bearings in motor and tranny rebuild. Msd ignition and new msd pro billet distributor. Skinnies up front. Putting new slicks on front & rear. Around 27x10. Not sure what brand rims(15"). I am thinking about selling it to buy a 421 or 427 sbc for my street camaro. Would be a good starter car for someone on a budget. I just want a strong street car so this could help fund it. I know I'm probably leaving a lot of stuff out that would help determining a price but just looking for a ball park figure. I have pictures on my photobucket. How can I post them?

Re: What is my car worth??

I think it'd be hard to sell, honestly, seeing as it is basically a track-only car.

Re: What is my car worth??

You could never get back what you put into a car. What it's worth is an easy answer and it depends if you're buying or selling.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

Selling? Throw a reasonable price out there that you want for it. If someone is willing to pay that price then everyone is happy. When nobody is interested, start lowering the price until someone bites or take a counter offer that's reasonable.

If you're buying, you always want to spend as little as possible but there are times you're willing to pay more to get exactly what you were looking for and want it before some other buyer outbids you. Offer a seller a reasonable counter offer and if he isn't willing to drop the price, walk away. Never insult the seller with an unreasonably low offer even if you know it's worth more to you. If you walk away, give the seller an option to contact you if nobody else is willing to pay his asking price and will sell it to you for your offer.

I look at those pictures and see nothing really special. The looped power steering hoses will work but they're not as impressive as a proper manual steering box. Ballpark figure, I'd guess $5000-$8000 based on what I can see and specs given. Too many variables to give a good estimate.

Racingjunk is your best bet for comparison pricing.

When I bought my Camaro, I was looking for a car to turn into a race car. I was looking for a G body at first but when I saw this one, it was more than I wanted to spend but it was in really good condition (no rust anywhere) so it was worth spending the extra money. It was a street car when I bought it and I've never driven it on the street (legally). I started gutting it into a race car the day it was dropped off at my house. I've had my car since 1999 and I've never driven any third gen on the streets as a daily driver.

Re: What is my car worth??

Thanks for the reply AlkyIROC. I fully understand the you never getting what you paid and its worth what someone will pay.... But everything has a baseline value. I know its "nothing really special". Just a stripped down 3rd gen pump gas track car with straight body and decent paint that probably isnt appealing to anyone except for maybe someone looking to get a "cheaper" solid running entery level track car. That is turn key and ready to go. I bought it and put the drivetrain in and now looking to move up. Never really spent money on it such as tubular suspension or a manual rack because it was just a weekend toy. Just floor it and have a good time with friends at the track. Not looking to make money so to speak just pass it on to someone wanting to start their hobby in racing and i can move into the direction i want to go. I just didnt want to ask to much or give it away. Im happy with your ball park figure based on internet photos and a breif description.
