Can't find correct egr

Hey guys, I have an 86 trans am 305 tpi, I'm in the process of replacing my egr and when I took it off I noticed that it was significantly different than the replacement one, the hole for the egr temp sensor on the new one was way too small and it also didn't have the black nipple like thing that sticks into the manifold. I tried many parts stores and they all were the same as the replacement one I got. The only egr I can find that has the black nipple like thing that sticks into the manifold is the California emissions one but I know my car is federal via the door jamb sticker. Has anyone ran into this problem before?

I'm tempted to buy a ca emissions egr and give it a shot, was gonna ask you what you did with the temp sensor but then realized you have a tbi
