Tight on money but need swap
I was wondering what the absolute cheapest way to 350 swap my 91 305 tbi with t5 but still have somewhere around 230 horsepower? Any junk yard motors to look for? The whole ECM thing confuses me too

Absolute cheeeepest, esp in your situation, would be a L05 out of a truck or Caprice. Just make sure you get the ESC module, the chip from the ECM, and the injectors that go with it, and there won't be any trouble at all.

if I can find one in the junkyard?
But if you can, yeah, it would. You could then go get the 350 chip, ESC, & injectors off of a truck or Caprice, and thereby minimize other effort.
