350 injectors on a hyped up 305?
I did a search on this and found some good info, as usual. But couldn't find the answer for quite what my buddy was asking me. AND I am just not the mechanic I would like to be.
... anyway, I know this forum is full of bad @$$ mechanics and thought I would throw out what possibly may be a stupid question.
So, I bought a wrecked TA for the top end intake. It was a larger high flowing unit and the guy who had this car went all out on boring, balancing, roller rockers, cam, custom tune to match all that was done. It is really built. SO.... here is the question. he was wondering if he could run 350 injectors on it. or would that just plain and simple not work? I had no idea so I told him I would ask some way smart people I know
thanks!!!

Re: 350 injectors on a hyped up 305?
He had it custom-tuned already??
If that's true he probably already spec'ed out the injectors to work with the motor.
No physical difference between 305 and 350 injectors except how much they flow. 19 lb/hr for factory 305 injectors, 22 lb/hr for factory 350 injectors.
Changing injectors is a very CRUDE tuning tool. It's like saying "add 15% more fuel EVERYWHERE from idle through full throttle". Not exactly a "precision" change.
Generally you pick your injector size to match the maximum HP you plan to make with the engine and then CUSTOM TUNE it so the fuel curve is right everywhere to match the particular needs of the engine under all RPM/throttle positions/loads.

Ah... That does make sense. Thanks much! I will tell him to stick with what it came with.
And yes he said he had it tuned. Maybe I'll see if I can can ahold of him and get some of the build info. Thanks again.
