Overheating with a/c on
Ok I'm at a loss I have an 86 z28 that's been swapped to a 350. I'm running the factory v-belt setup and a new a/c compressor with dual electric fans from a 90 iroc. With a/c on the temp steadily climbs and won't cool off until the a/c is turned off. This is at idle as well as cruising.....are the dual electric fans not enough? Also when compressor was replaced it was filled with r134 instead of r22. Any help or ideas are welcome

Do the fans kick on when the compressor is engaged? both should be. if not then you have an electrical problem to track down.

Yes both fans cut on when the a/c is on. I'm running an external fan controller as well.

Ok, and with the air off it doesn't do the whole overheating thing, right?

Right!! With the air off the car stays at 180 which is the degree thermostat I have.
Re: Overheating with a/c on
This is quite odd....the only thing I can think of that may cause this is the condenser in front of the radiator. Is this dirty/blocked? The hot refrigerant passes through your condenser to cool off back into a liquid. This is the only link I can make.
Oh and check to make sure your fans are wired right - i.e sucking air through the radiator and not blowing!

The condenser has a few bent fins but nothing j would deem major. And the fans are wired correctly
